T.G.I.F For Reals

Thank Goodness it's Friday. I don't think I've ever meant those words as much as I do today. I am keeping a watchful eye on the clock awaiting the moment that it turns 3pm and I can finally start my weekend.

I watch two kids during the week on random days who are playmates for my youngest daughter. As they prance around the playroom I sit back and wish I had as much energy as them. I think I spent all of my energy for the day pushing a stroller with two kids up a hill both to the duck pond and on the way back home.

It's been a long week of fire alarms, almost falling down stairs, children, nephews, knitting, and exhaustion. And it's almost over. Tomorrow my wonderful sister in law will be watching Adam so that I can go to some garage sales in search of new school clothes for my girls. It's amazing the quality of clothing you can find if you search in the nicer neighborhoods and for unbeatable prices.

And now as I sit here and stalk the clock I am going to post Adam's pictures from yesterday and today.

Future Football Player

My husband is a huge football fan. He loves the Browns. Poor guy. They have been on such a bad streak ever since his favorite player, Bernie Kosar, quit playing football.

One of his only hopes is that his son will one day grow up and become a Cleveland Browns player and will hopefully bring them good luck. A little far fetched perhaps but, you never know.

Career Day

It's Career Day this morning. As an avid garage sale shopper I've found lots of fun toys for the kids for very cheap. These toys also make for great photo props! I usually take Adam's picture laying down but today I wanted to do something different.

So I put Adam in his Bumbo seat and started snapping away when the red firetruck struck my eye. I decided to use it as a prop beside him and thought, hmmm...might make a fun set of pictures if I did a "Career Day" theme. I hope to find more things around the house to use for this little project of mine. The good thing about us garage sale fanatics is that there is often something hiding somewhere in the garage that would be great to use.

Here are the shots we took from today's shoot.

S'mores Waffles and I've Been Framed

So this morning I invited my brother and his family over for my weekly Sunday brunch. I always (well most weeks) make a Sunday brunch for my family and thought it was about time I invited them over to share in the goodness of a hearty breakfast.

Funnily enough I was reading an issue of Parenting magazine last night when I stumbled upon a page full of ideas with waffles. When I saw the S'mores waffles I thought they would be fun to make. We made ours using mini French toast Eggo waffles that were topped with mini choco chips and mini marshmallows. A few minutes under the broiler and they were good to go.

Everybody, even the adults, loved these bite sized breakfast treats. Next time I may try just drizzling chocolate sauce on the waffles and then topping with marshmallows. These needed no additional toppings and were very tasty on their own.

And now on to: I've been framed. I bought Adam a onesie that was light grey and dark grey striped. After I took his pictures this morning I thought that it looked like he was wearing prison stripes and thought it'd be a fun idea to make his picture of the day into a "mugshot". Only without anything that I could possibly accuse him of, except for being the cutest baby boy, I decided I should put Made in Oregon March 2012 on there.

Super cute don't you think?

In fact, it has given me the idea that maybe I could do this with all of my children and frame them on the wall side by side. Would be a great focal point and conversation piece!

You could even make them cheaply by getting them printed at Staples. They sell Engineering Prints for very little cost.

Adam 7/14 and Garage Sales

So I have been busy going to garage sales this month. I have done the drive by for many garage sales, don't let a nice neighborhood fool you, but have found some real gold mines as well.

Yesterday I went to a garage sale that was filled with baby clothes and toys. Clothing was being sold at just 50 cents - $1.00/each. The biggest bonus was that they were selling quality clothing. This made the low price tag even more appealing.

There were Baby Boden clothes, Gap, Old Navy, and some really cute OshKosh and Carter's clothing for baby boys. I was all too happy to hand over my money.

The great thing is that I spent $15 and now have enough clothing to last Adam for the rest of the year. Not sure that will stop me from buying more though. It's hard to pass up a bargain on something really nice for any of my four chidren or husband.

Anyway, here are Adam's daily pictures for 7/14 sporting his new (to me) Baby Boden Dinosaur long sleeve romper.

It's Friday...the 13th

It's Friday the 13th. But my luck hasn't been affected. Today I went out to some garage sales and scored some really nice baby clothes for very cheap. Adam now has enough clothes to get him through the rest of the year.

Speaking of Adam, I did not get a picture up of him yesterday so I will have to add it in to today's post. And here they are:

Adam's Daily Picture

So here is my sweet baby boy today July 11th. I had to do two photoshoots of him today to get clear pictures that weren't overexposed. Thanks to the bountiful sunshine and heat it's been harder to take great pictures.

It's also been a busy day with taking the kids out for a breakfast picnic. Who says picnics are bound to lunch and dinner? I made some homemade blueberry muffins this morning that were packed along with some grapes and juice and we headed to the park.

On a side note, Sarah said the funniest thing today. I mentioned to my husband about how my arm was feeling dead after holding Adam. Sarah hears this and says to me, "Mommy, what you need are batteries."

Without further ado, here are Adam's pictures of the day. It was hard to pick just three.
